Tegan Haining is a contestant from Australian Survivor (2016)

Tegan began the game flying under the radar until her closest ally Nick Iadanza was blindsided at their first Tribal Council. In a surprise twist, Nick was merely switched to the opposing Saanapu tribe, and he chose Tegan to join him. Tegan tried to integrate herself into their new tribe, even throwing Nick under the bus, but her tribe deemed her to be too much of a liability in challenges and voted her out.

Occupation: Personal Trainer & Model

A model and personal trainer, Tegan has been living in London for the past four years and plans to move back home after Australian Survivor.

A catalogue model for more than 15 years, Tegan is looking forward to being underestimated by her fellow castaways.

She says: "People will underestimate me. As a model, I am often thought of as stupid or ditzy but I am actually very strong willed, adaptable and well travelled. I have overcome many challenges that can help to make me a strong game player and I look forward to showing them that."

A personal trainer for the past eight years, Tegan has trained the likes of David Beckham, Natalie Imbruglia, Lara Stone and Hugh Grant.

Following her boyfriend's death in 2013, Tegan said she became a stronger person. "It made me cherish my own life and relationships much more. I became more personable and a better communicator. I really felt like my life, as I knew it had ended. I had to rebuild myself and my life went in a completely different direction."[1]

Australian Survivor[]

At the beginning of the game, Tegan was placed on the Vavau tribe. Due to winning the first two Immunity Challenges, Tegan was able to fly under the radar. However, on Day 6, both Tegan and tribemate Nick were faced with a tough decision between choosing a large bag of beans for the tribe or a clue to the Hidden Immunity Idol with a small bag of beans. Nick and Tegan decided to take the latter option and came up with a fake clue to tell the rest of the tribe. Their plan did not prove successful as several tribemates did not believe the fake clue and put a target on both Tegan and Nick's backs.

On Day 12, two of the three tribes were subjected to Tribal Council, meaning only one tribe would win immunity. Vavau's winning streak came to an end and Tegan was faced with her first Tribal Council. Nick's alliance originally planned on taking Tegan out, but due to Barry's odd strategy of drawing names out of a hat, Nick attempted to change the target to Barry. This did not sit well with his alliance, who now wanted to vote their leader, Nick, out instead. At Tribal Council, Tegan followed Nick's plan by voting for Barry, only to then be blindsided when the new majority voted for Nick. In a shocking twist, Nick was spared from elimination and was merely switched to the Saanapu tribe. He was also given the privilege to choose an original tribe member to his new tribe and chose Tegan to join him.

On Saanapu, Tegan tried integrating herself in with the tribe, attempting to form a bond with the other girls, Brooke and Flick. After winning the next Immunity Challenge, Tegan tried to distance herself from her former ally Nick, telling the girls that she'd be willing to write his name down if she had to. Tegan's allegiances were put to the test after losing the following Immunity Challenge on Day 17, sending her to Tribal Council. In an attempt to flush Kylie's idol, Nick planned on splitting the votes between her and Tegan. Tegan agreed to vote out Kylie but still considered voting for Nick with the girls. In the end, Tegan sided with Nick in voting for Kylie, but after Kylie played her idol, it left a tie between Tegan and Nick, with two votes each. On the revote, Brooke and Flick sided with their original Saanapu tribemates in voting Tegan out.

^1 In "Episode 5", Vavau and Saanapu were subjected to a joint and mock Tribal Council where the players they voted out were switched to the other tribe. The person voted off Vavau, Nick, was given the privilege to take an original tribemate with him. He chose Tegan to join him on Saanapu.
^2 In "Episode 7", Kylie used a Hidden Immunity Idol, negating Tegan's vote against her. Also, the vote ended with a 2-2-0 tie between Tegan and Nick, forcing a revote. Brooke and Flick changed their votes to Tegan on the revote, eliminating her from the game.
